And whatever? you do to the bottom you have to do to the top, so if you multiply the one that represents 5 by five, you need to do it the same way with the 5 on top. Make sense? first: and he needed to make the denominators the same! so he multiplied by 5 :) 16/5 - 5/1 ( multiplied by 5) 16/5 - 25/5

@leo3k, and @Seattle206723, okay from the step 5 = 16/5 + b, he brought the '5' over to the left hand side making it a negative, like this: 16/5 + b - 5, then he moved the 'b' over to the right hand side making the equation like this: b = 16/5 - 5, from there he just subtracted the fractions 16/5 with 5/1.?

@adryn97 Because you must get all the variable to one side of the equation. So in this equation, it is easier to get the variables (x) on the left side of the equation (equal sign). So since it's a negative X (-7x) you must add +7x to it to get rid of it. Since you did this to the right side, you must do this as? well to the left side. So.. It was 3x+3=-7x-5 +7x....+7x (what you do to one side, you must do to the other) 10x+3=-5 And that's what you get. Hope I helped?

@Richard133t IT can go either way, but I suggest you do 6x-6x+6=15x-6x+30, because this way your coefficient wont be negative if. My teacher told me to subtract the variable to the number with the largest variable (Sorry if? that was confusing, what I'm saying is, since 15x is bigger than 6x you would "get rid" of 6x).
