Why do you reverse the direction of the inequality. Can you show us a proof, so? we know why?
By: WildChildftw. on 23 Nov 09, 19:57:29
Well, in fact division is kind of derived from multiplication by the division algorithm. Dividing by 2, in this case, is equivalent with multiplying by? 1/2.

I love your videos. I've? watched a handfull of them. They're so hands on and easy to understand. I'm taking an Algebra class this year, and you've made it so much easy to understand. Thank you so much!

You want X to be the only variable on? that side so you multiply by 1/2 or .5 . Any other number used would not have removed the 2 in front of the x.

I don't know why he uses multiplication instead of division but it is acceptable because you are multiplying it by 1 (the numerator) which makes it the same number then dividing it with 2. You can use? any fraction equal to 1/2 but most people use 1/2 because it is the simplest form.

I LOVE Algebra, it just makes? my brains exciting.

Well maybe to you,? but dividing by 2 is easier than multiplying by 1/2.
By: jtlebout. on 25 Oct 09, 20:33:52
1/2? makes the most sense to isolate the variable
By: Shintai123. on 25 Oct 09, 20:10:58
Why did you use 1/2? Does it "have" to be 1/2 or is any number? acceptable?
